Breathe In

Exhibition:

IsnotGallery, Almyra Hotel, Pafos, Cyprus,

Year:

45 x 35 x 17 cm | paper installation inside a plexiglass box

The paper installation “Breathe in” depicts a pair of lungs, serving as a poetic reminder of the vital act of breathing. Crafted entirely from delicate paper, the work combines intricate papercuts that unveil the complexity of our inner structures with subtle red gradients suggesting the fine network of nerves and vessels. These elements highlight both the fragility and the resilience of life itself.

The piece is deeply connected to μυ exploration of air as a fundamental yet endangered resource. Just as air flows through our bodies, sustaining life, it also reflects the environment in which we live — an environment increasingly shaped by pollution and socio-economic disparities. Through this work, air is not only represented as an invisible necessity but is also elevated to the role of an active presence, a performer that animates and transforms space.

“Breathe in” invites the viewer to pause, to become aware of their own breath, and to reflect on the interdependence between the body, nature, and the world around us.
